Panaji:The organizers of a private music festival on Thursday announced the postponement of the event due to coronavirus scare.

Ketavan Sacred Music Festival organizers announced that their event has been postponed in the light of World Health Organisation escalating Covid19 to a pandemic status.

The festival was scheduled to be held between March 13-15, 2020.

State health minister Vishwajit Rane on Wednesday had appealed Goa government to order the organizers to cancel the festival as there were at least five artists who were supposed to travel from the countries affected with Coronavirus spread.

The spokesman of the festival, in a press release issued here, said “in the light of the WHO-World Health Organization escalating Covid 19 to a pandemic status, we deeply regret to announce that our Festival needs to be postponed for now, but will be rescheduled after analyzing the situation at a future date.”
“Since the core spirit of our Festival has always been to promote peaceful co-existence, we are keen to follow all the health and travel guidelines stated by the Indian Government to ensure the safety of everyone involved,” the spokesman said.
“We’d like to thank all our loyal supporters for donating their time and resources towards our Festival this year. We will definitely celebrate our 2020 Fifth Edition after this crisis passes,” it added.
“We hope and pray that the virus is contained soon so that the world can be at peace,” the organizers said.
