Panaji: Congress party has questioned the authority of the transport minister Mauin Godinho in making announcement with regards to reducing road tax, which actually comes under the ambit of finance department, headed by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
In a press statement issued, Congress President Girish Chodankar has come down heavily on the BJP Government following the announcement made by Godinho about reduction in road tax by 50% for three months.
“It may superficially appear that the 50% reduction in road tax will benefit the common man, but the hard truth is due to failed economy management of BJP Government, people dont have financial strength to buy vehicles and this particular announcement is just an eye wash,” he said.
GPCC president has questioned the authority of the transport minister in making such announcement which actually comes under the ambit of finance department. He has questioned the Chief Minister to answer the Goans whether Godinho is the new finance minister of the State.
He has also raised a question whether the government will have daily budget announcements to tackle the bumpy economy due to the failed policies of the BJP government at the Centre and State of Goa.
