Panaji: The Congress party on Monday supported the protesting doctors in the state, demanding the sacking of Health Minister Vishwajit Rane.

Rane on Saturday had lost his cool demanding suspension of Chief Medical Officer Dr Rudresh Kuttikar attached to casualty of Goa Medical College and Hospital near here.
The minister’s action had evoked strong reaction with the doctors from the GMCH protesting outside the hospital on Monday, demanding a public apology from him.

GPCC President Amit Patkar in a post on his X handle stated that the Congress stands in unwavering solidarity with Goa’s doctors.

“When those who save lives are forced to hang up their stethoscopes and take to the streets, it’s not just a strike — it’s a cry for dignity, justice, and safety,” he said.

Patkar said that the real disease plaguing Goa is BJP’s intoxicated arrogance.

“Vishwajit Rane’s abuse of power has crossed all limits,” he said.

Patkar demanded that CM Dr Prmaod Sawant must act. “Sack him now — or face a mass revolt,” the Congress leader warned.
