Panaji: The united opposition for the upcoming Assembly Session began with the division amongst the opposition. Congress MLA, except Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat, skipped the meeting held on Tuesday to discuss the floor coordination.

The meeting was held at LoPs chamber in the Assembly Complex.

“Three days assembly is a farce,” said MLA of Porvorim Rohan Khaunte, he said, the assembly session is not enough to raise all the issues, “Crime has increased in Goa, Coal issues needs to be discussed and most recently the failure of Disaster management strategy of the government in handling floods needs to be raised in the house,” he asserted.

MGP MLA Sudin Dhavlikar said there will be a combined calling attention on the mismanagement of disaster management by the state in recent floods.

Goa Forward Party MLA Vijai Sardesai inferred that without a general discussion a budget  should not be passed as it is unprecedented. “If budget gets passed without a general discussion it will be historic. This should not happen as the sanctity of the legislative assembly needs to be maintained” he added.

There was a general outcry among the opposition ministers that the assembly session should have been held for more days. “A minimum of 10 days assembly session was needed,” lamented LoP Digambar Kamat.
