Panaji: The Congress party in Goa on Monday came up with a strange demand to display pictures of BJP functionaries on crematoriums, burial grounds and death certificates of all those who succumbs to COVID-19 infection.
BJP has strongly reacted to the Congress’ statement claiming that the opposition party was frustrated looking at the decreasing graph of COVID-19 infection in the State.
“I urge @goacm @DrPramodPSawant and @BJP4Goa @ShetSadanand to write to @PMOIndia @narendramodi and @BJP4India @JPNadda and demand that photos of BJP functionaries must be displayed at every crematorium and burial grounds as well as on Death Certificates of all those who succumb to #COVID,” Congress Goa spokesman Amarnath Panjikar tweeted.
He was referring to the tweet by Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat taking objection to BJP banners for Tika Utsav program, an initiative to vaccinate people against COVID-19 infection.
BJP Goa spokesman Urfan Mulla said that Congress is getting frustrated as it could not gain political mileage out of global pandemic.
“Congress party leaders in Goa have stooped down to the gutter level with their statement. The demand of Congress spokesman Amarnath Panjikar to install pictures of BJP leaders on crematoriums and death certificates of people who died due to COVID-19 pandemic is narration of the frustration,” he said.
He alleged that the Congress party is frustrated looking at the decreasing graph of COVID-19 pandemic situation and also creation of the infrastructure to tackle the virus under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant and Health Minister Mr Vishwajit Rane.
“The positivity rate has been consistently coming down in Goa while State is already getting ready to brace up for the third wave. The attempts are made to ensure that there is no third wave and that is why programs like Tika Utsav are being organised in the State,” he said.
“BJP workers are on the ground visiting every household, encouraging the people to get themselves vaccinated.”
“Our Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has already simplified the procedure for vaccination for the age group of 18-44 by allowing them to walk in vaccination centres.”
“The efforts of Goa government are hailed across the state. People are welcoming the steps taken by the government to control the virus.”
“It was due to active participation of the people and government machinery that such drastic reduction and control on pandemic could happen.”
