Vasco: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday visited Mangor Hill area in Vasco town which has been declared as containment zone amidst rising number of cases.
Total 42 cases have been tested positive for COVID-19 infection from Mangor Hill area of Vasco since Tuesday evening.
“In view of new cases of #COVID19 coming to light in Mangor Hill area, I visited Vasco today to take stock of the situation on ground. Stringent measures have been put in place and we are fully geared up to deal with the cases,” Sawant tweeted while posting pictures of his visit to the containment zone.
Mangor Hill has around 2,000 people living there. The first infection was noticed on Tuesday evening when a family of six were tested positive for COVID-19.
Earlier talking to reporters at Vasco, Sawant said that people living in the containment zone have been barred from moving out as collection of samples has begun.
He said that South District Collector and local civic body has been asked to keep a strict check to ensure that the people living in this area do not leave their homes.
Sawant said that those who belong to economically weaker section would be provided with the essentials, enough to survive for eight days by district administration.
