CM assures to postpone Nov 2 public hearing on Marina project

 Panaji: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today assured the delegation of MLAs and villagers to postpone the public hearing on the proposed Marina project at Nauxim to be held on November 2.

Chief Minister had called meeting of concerned MLAs and villagers of Odxel-Nauxi at his official residence to discuss on the issue. The delegation along with a demand to postpone the hearing also urged government to scrap the project.

The delegation was represented by BJP St Cruz MLA Tony Fernandes, St Andre MLA Francis Silveira, Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha and Congress Curtorim MLA Alexio Reginaldo Lourenco.

Speaking to reporters after meeting, Silveira said that Chief Minister has assured to postpone the hearing pending finalization of coastal zone management plan (CZMP).

Silveira said that once CZMP is ready, it will give protection to the Nauxim and its surrounding villages from projects like marina. He said that that in CZMP, Nauxim is marked as fishing village.
