Margao: Nationalist Congress Party legislator Churchill Alemao is eager to get back the ‘family dynasty’ in state politics. The sources in Congress party have confirmed that Churchill is lobbying for the Congress ticket for  his daughter Valanka in South Goa for 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

The 2012 election saw entire Alemao family being wiped out from state politics. Churchill managed to salvage his political career in 2017 polls by contesting on NCP ticket from Benaulim.

The attempts are now made to get Valanka a ticket from South Goa. Sources stated that Churchill had even tried his old links in All India Congress Committee in New Delhi.

But the attempts have failed. The Congress leaders have turned down his request for the ticket to his daughter, which has brightened up the prospects of some of the aspirants including Francis Sardinha and Pratima Coutinho besides several unknown leaders who are busy pulling up the strings.

“There is no possibility of giving Valanka a ticket from South Goa when we have lot of leaders who stood loyal to the party. Churchill is not even a congressman anymore. He is from NCP,” a senior state leader told Goanewshub on the condition of anonymity.

He said that the party will reward ticket for the loyal leaders. “Congress has a huge chance of winning both the Lok Sabha seats,” he said.

Churchill has been trying desperately to launch his daughter into the politics but has failed to do so. It was expected that Alemao family will once for all abandon the dynasty politics.
