Ban on single-use plastics on card

Panaji: State government will soon be coming up with a legislative amendment to ban single-use plastics like straws, cutlery, plastic bags in the State.

Government is working on a amendment to the Goa Non-Biodegradable Garbage Control Act to have a complete ban on single-use plastics.

“The legislation, once adopted in September, will put complete ban on the manufacture, supply, storage and use of single-use plastics in the State,” officer said.

Use of plastic carry bags below 50 microns are already banned in the State. Goa has total 34 registered plastic manufacturing units.
