85 per cent students pass in Goa Board’s twelfth standard examination

Panaji: The Goa Board of Secondary and higher Secondary Education on Sunday announced the results of Higher Secondary School Certificate examination (12th standard) which was cleared by 85 per cent of the students.

Releasing the results, Board Chairman Bhagirath Shetye told reporters that total 17511 students had appeared for the examination of which 14884 passed, registering a total passing percentage of 85 per cent.

He said that compared to the last year, the passing is decreased by ten per cent. “The 2023 HSSC examination had 95.46 per cent students passing the examination,” he stated.

Shetye said that 81.59 per cent boys and 88.06 per cent girls passing the examination.

“In the Arts stream, 86.33 per cent students passed, Commerce 90.78 per cent, Science 82.41 per cent and Vocational 76.45 per cent,” the chairman said.

He said that total 2980 students available benefit under sports merit marks of which 180 passed the exam with the help of sports merit marks.

The examination was conducted by Goa Board between February 28, 2024 to March 18, 2024 across 20 examination centres, he added.
