Panaji: Traffic police has booked 311 cases of drunken driving during the special drive, launched across State on the intervening night of December 31, 2018 and January 1, 2019.
In a press statement issued, traffic police have said that in the joint drive conducted by them and district police at several locations, 311 cases of driving under the influence of alcohol were booked.
Vehicles and documents of the violators are seized.
“All the cases will be referred to appropriate Court of Law for prosecutions,” police said.
It is said that in cases where excessive alcohol content of more than 200mg/100ml was found, the police inspector will personally appear before the Court along with APP and will seek maximum punishment of imprisonment and suspension of license highlighting the gravity of the offence.
