Benaulim: The anti-BJP alliance has already been formed in Goa under the banner of Trinamool Congress Party with MGP joining in and NCP merging their unit with us,  now it is for the Congress whether to join us or not in Goa, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee said.

Addressing a public meeting at Benaulim assembly in South Goa, Banerjee said that TMC will not allow BJP to win the elections in Goa this time.

“If Congress thinks that they want to defeat BJP, we have no objection. We already have MGP on board. If you want to join, join us. We have already formed the alliance,” the West Bengal chief minister said after inducting NCP MLA Churchill Alemao in the party.

Earlier during the day, Alemao had merged NCP Goa Legislature Unit in Trinamool Congress Party.

Talking about the alliance, Banerjee said that Trinamool Congress Party has already become an alternative in the state against the BJP.

“MGP has joined the alliance, NCP has merged its legislature unit,” she said adding that “if anyone wants not to divide votes, come and join us.”

“We will not allow BJP to win (in Goa) this time,” she said.

Striking a chord with Christian community, Banerjee said that she has been attending Christmas mid-night masses since last 20 years without a break.

“After our government, we celebrate Christmas festival at Kolkata in a big way. I am going to inaugurate the function on 20th of this month,” she said.

Banerjee also narrated his closeness with Mother Teresa due to which she was even invited to the Vatican.

  1. GSRP/RG is saying Ghati to non-Goans. GSRP/RG is anti-National party, because they say Ghati to Indians who are staying in Goa. Ghati is a bad word for Indians who are staying in Goa.
