Suchana Seth not cooperating in the investigation, police told the court

Panaji: Goa police on Monday told the local court that they want extension in the custody of Suchana Seth, accused of killing her four-year-old child, because she has not been cooperating due to which the motive behind the murder is yet to be known.

Seth, the chief executive officer of artificial intelligence based start up, was produced before Goa Children’s Court on Monday which extended her remand by another five days. She was initially remanded to six days police custody after her arrest, which expired on Monday.

A senior police officer said that the accused has been completely non-cooperative and continues her refusal to confess that she killed her son.

“That particular part she is not confessing during the interrogation. She has been confirming all the other story including that she carried the corpse in a bag but she does not admit that she killed the child,” he said.

The officer said that during the extension of remand on Monday, the police have told the court that they are yet to know the motive behind her act. “She is repeatedly saying that her husband was responsible for death of their child.. She is not cooperating with the investigating officer,” he said.

Police have also told the court that they want to collect sample of the accused for conducting DNA to match with her child. “That is a part of a procedure,” he said.

The Investigating officer also wants to cross check with her the statement given by her estranged husband Venkat Raman, the police said adding that the extension of her police custody will help in getting more evidences against her in this case.

Seth was arrested on January 8 when she was trying to flee with the dead body of her child. She was arrested at Chitradurga in Karnataka on the way to Bengaluru.
