Panaji: A portion of under renovation Kala Academy building in Panaji collapsed in the intervening night of Sunday-Monday.
Sources stated that the slab that collapsed was of the open air auditorium. “There were no casualties reported as there was no one in the area when incident happened,” sources stated.
State Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude said that they are monitoring the situation. “We have asked for the report from the Public Works Department over the issue,” he said.
Gaude said that the slab that collapsed was not the part of the main building, which is currently being renovated.
Kala Academy building remains vacated since last more than two years due to the renovation work. The building is a home for several international events including International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
