Panaji: Minister for FDA Vishwajit Rane today said that government will not succumb to any pressure on the issue of fish import.

The statement comes hours after wholesale fish traders and vendors warned of protest march in the Capital city on November 3 against the FDA’s action to stop vehicles entering the State with fish.

Rane said that the government decision on following the guidelines for importing fish in the State is final and that there would be no changes.

“Irrespective of any kind of pressure, there will be no change in the government stand. We will not succumb to any pressure,” Rane said.

Minister has already warned to impose permanent ban on fish import if the vehicle operators do not comply with the directions.
