The Panchayats of Merces, Chimbel and Santa Cruz today informed the High Court that they have cleared all the black spots in their jurisdiction pointed out to the Court by Adv. Aires Rodrigues.

The three Panchayats in their affidavits submitted to the High Court have also stated that they are taking all possible steps and measures to prevent black spots. The High Court on 12th July had directed these three Panchayats to clear the black spots by 20th July and to file a compliance report.

The directions were issued by a Division Bench of the Bombay High Court at Goa comprising of Justice M.S.Sonak and Justice M.S Jawalkar after Adv. Aires Rodrigues submitted to the Court photographs removed on 10th July showing garbage dumped along the roads in these three panchayats.

The High Court is hearing the Contempt petition filed by Adv. Aires Rodrigues in 2017 over the failure of the authorities to comply with the undertaking given to the High Court by the Government in 2008 that a proper garbage management plan would be in place.
