Panaji:Goa Trinamool Congress Party’s General Secretary Rakhi Prabhudesai Naik has demanded immediate replacement of Sanguem-based Subhash Velip from the post of Chairman of Atal Gram Development Agency Goa (AGDAG) holding him responsible for the failure of this flagship scheme.

Addressing a press conference in party office in Panaji, Naik said that Atal Gram Development Agency Goa ( AGDAG ) is aimed at integrated development of villages through a comprehensive concept of a model village development.

The main purpose of this scheme was to improve the “economic conditions of the poor from the rural areas,” she said adding that the incompetent Chairman has made this scheme dormant leaving several projects in doldrums.

Naik accused Velip of failing to do justice for the post that he has been holding.

Narrating anecdotes after anecdotes chronicling the failure of Velip, she said that a project of shops-cum-public rest rooms at Margwada, Netravali Near Panchayat is lying unused even after it was auctioned reportedly due to its low quality of civil work.

In yet another glaring example of wastage of public funds, the agency had taken up the project of constructing “Balwadi” at Bandawada, Netravali.

” It’s ironical that Chief minister Pramod Sawant himself had laid foundation stone for this ambitious project last year
but the building is yet to be constructed.

Naik said that the stage cum dressing room at Betal Temple, Bandawada, Netravali was constructed four years ago by ZP fund . The sub standard work of this project has left the facility in dilapidated condition.

What’s interesting is that the funds available under Zilla Panchayat scheme were used for this and Velip was himself a sub-contractor for this project. Naik demanded that inquiry should be conducted how Velip was awarded sub contract despite being Chairman of the Agency as it amounts to clash of interests.

She said that several Christian brethrens are awaiting the completion of the project undertaken to beautify Our Lady of Milagres Chapel.

Naik pointed out that the Chairman is enjoying all the perks including high-end official vehicle, fully equipped office at Porvorim and other facilities like personal staff but has miserably failed to do his duties.

She has demanded that State government should immediately conduct audit of the works undertaken by this agency, specially in Netravali area and he should be replaced holding him responsible for failing such an ambitious scheme.
