Goa Pollution Control Board dispatches its team to inspect muddy waters of Dudhsagar river

Panaji: Goa State Pollution Control Board on Wednesday dispatched its team of officials to investigate the unusual phenomenon of Dudhsagar river water turning muddy.

The locals media had carried pictures about the water of  Dudhsagar river turning muddy in several stretches.

GSPCB Chairman Mahesh Patil said that taking cognizance of the media reports, a team of experts from the board has been sent to the location.

“We will have to find out the source of pollution. There are no industries on the bank of this river. Also the Iron Ore mining activity has stopped,” he said.

Patil said that the team has been asked to survey the entire stretch to find out the source of pollution.

Dudhsagar river enters Goa through a picturesque waterfall which is known for its milky water.

“Dudhsagar water is always pure and milky. We have to see what makes it muddy,” he said.

Patil said that if any pollutant is identified by the Board, strict action would be taken against him.
