Panaji: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday announced that the state government will formally launch its ambitious Mhaji Ghar (My House) housing scheme in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, once all legal procedures are completed.
Sawant said notifications regarding Comunidade land (community-owned lands), the 20-point programme, and government land have already been issued following the preliminary launch of the scheme. The state had recently amended laws allowing old houses built on community and government-owned properties to be included.
“Once all legal matters are properly settled, the application forms will be made available to the people,” he said after participating in the Seva Pakhwara program on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday in Panaji.
The Chief Minister added that the scheme is expected to benefit nearly 50 per cent of Goa’s population. “Even the flats provided during rehabilitation programmes some 30 years ago will now receive ownership under this scheme,” he said. Sawant emphasised that the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to providing housing security and ownership rights to long-time residents and rehabilitated families.
