Naikawado, Calangute-Crime Branch Ribandar have busted a prostitution racket in a raid conducted on 13/11/2019.
Officials of Crime branch received information from reliable sources that two persons are supplying girls for prostitution purpose at Calangute – Goa. Accordingly on 12/11/2019 a decoy customer was arranged and police staff along with NGO Andrea Pereira laid a trap at Calangute.
Further both the accused pimps when came at the spot were rounded by police. One of the accused pimp came on a scooter while the other in A Maruti swift car to materialise the deal. As per the information police detained both the accused pimps and noticed 02 victim girls in the car.
During the raid police have seized on Dio scooter bearing no: GA 03 W 2241 and Swift car bearing no: GA 03 W 3711 cash and mobile phones.
Both the victim girls native of Maharashtra were rescued and lodged in State Protective Home, Merces – Goa for safe custody.
The accused pimps have been identified as 1. Akshay S/o Satish Karnwal, 27 yrs, N/o Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh and 2. Tophik S/o Mohammad Lakhimhar, 27 yrs, R/o Deep Nagar, Curti, Ponda – Goa and have been places under arrest vide sections 370(3) IPC, Section 4, 5 of Immoral Trafficking Prevention Act.
Further investigation is in progress with PI Jivba Dalvi of Crime Branch under the supervision of DySP Crime Shri Mahesh Gaonkar and SP Crime Shri Bosco George IPS .
