Panaji: Total 24 people, including two pedestrians, lost their lives in road accident in the month of March.
The Directorate of Transport has compiled their monthly report of number of accidents that occurred and the total Challans that were issued for the month of March.
As per the report there were 304 road accidents of which 21 were Fatal Accidents (North Goa – 10 and South Goa – 11), 17 were Grievous Accidents (North Goa – 11 and South Goa – 6), 51 were accidents of Minor nature (North Goa – 16 and South Goa – 35) and 215 Non – Injury Accidents (North Goa – 124 and South Goa – 91).
The total number of persons who lost their lives in road accidents were 24 (North Goa – 11 and South Goa – 13). This included 14 riders, one each pillion rider and a Driver, 2 Pedestrian, 5 Passenger, and 1 other lost their lives in these accidents.
34 people were Grievously Injured (North – 18 and South – 16) while 83 persons suffered Minor Injuries (North – 28, South – 55).
A total 6001 Challans were issued by Transport authorities for various violations of traffic rules.
