Panaji: After commissioning 44 new ertiga vehicles by chief minister Pramod Sawant for the purpose of patrolling, within few hours they were withdrawn to be used for the officers.
Sawant had said that the vehicles would be used for highway patrolling and as PCR vans. The existing PCR vans have lived their life, and are often getting into mechanical issues.
To the surprise, within two hours of disbursing the vehicles, senior police officers withdraw them from PCR and highway patrol duty.
Instead, they were assigned to police officers.
Sources stated that except few of the vehicles, remaining were being taken back.
The PCR and highway patrol will be done in the old vehicles itself.
