Velguem (Bicholim): A group of villagers from Velguem-Pale apprehended a thief while his accomplice fled during the wee hours of Tuesday.
The locals also found rickshaw which was brought by them to take away the stolen booty.
The villagers have found iron rods which were stolen by them, while the thieves were trying to steal batteries of the trucks standing nearby.
The apprehended thief is a non-Goan and was residing in the nearby village of Honda in Sattari taluka.
He was handed over to police by the villagers.
