Margao: While Congress minced no words in criticizing TCP minister Vijai Sardesai over section 16 B in the act, the support for the minister came from the non-political businessman.

South Goa based Industrialist Sudin Naik held a press conference to explain how the new amendment has given hope for him to weed out the injustice meted out to him in Regional Plan 2021 drafted during Congress regime.

Naik pointed out that the land owned by his family, which was passed on to him through generations, was shown as Orchard from Settlement without even their knowledge in final RP 2021.

The land is situated at San Joe De Areal Industrial Estate near Margao.

“The property was purchased by my  grandfather. In the Regional Plan 2010 it was shown was settlement while part of it was Industrial. In the Regional plan 2021 draft it continued to be shown as settlement but when final plan came up it was shown as Orchard,: he said.

Naik and his family were unaware about this deadly goof up but was brought to their notice one and half year later. “In the year 2015 we had protested but nothing happened,” he said.

He said the change of zone happened without taking them into confidence and when finally Sardesai brought the amendment, their hopes are now high of getting justice.

Responding to the statement by Congress President Girish Chodankar, Naik said that he should first study the amendment before making political statements.

“I want to request Chodankar that he should first study the things,” he commented.

Chodankar’s statement does not go well with many people who were meted out injustice without no fault of theirs.

“I want to know why Experts’Committee during Congress time made our land into Orchard without even asking us and without any basis,” he said.

Chodankar said that they would revoke if they come to power. Before saying that they should tell everyone who did the injustice. If that is the case, what should the people like us do?, he questioned.

Naik claimed that he has no political affiliation but don’t agree with statements of Chodankar which were leveled without studying the issue.
