Panaji: Goa Legislative Assembly speaker Ramesh Tawadkar on Thursday dismissed the disqualification petition filed by Goa congress President Amit Patkar against two of his former party MLAs — Digambar Kamat and Michael Lobo.
Tawadkar confirmed that the disqualification petition filed by Patkar against Kamat and Lobo has been dismissed.

He said that the reasons for the dismissal would be pronounced in the detailed order that would be made public in few hours from now.

In July 2022, when Lobo and Kamat were showing inclination towards BJP, the petition was filed by Patkar. Both the leaders — Kamat and Lobo — were then the Congress MLAs, but had shown their anger against the party.

Lobo was Leader of Opposition in the Assembly when disqualification was filed.

Both the leaders were part of the eight MLAs who joined BJP from Congress in September, 2022, two months after the disqualification petition was filed.
