Panaji: The delegation of Shiv Sena today submitted petition to Registrar of Goa University seeking his intervention in solving the issue of students who have applied in the Government College Quepem, but are yet on the waiting list.
The delegation comprising Sena’s Goa Vice President Rakhi Prabhudesai Naik, Secretary Vandana Chavan Lobo and Rajani Veluskar along with Yuva Sanghatak Chetan Pednekar submitted a memorandum to the Registrar of Goa University.
The copy of memorandum has also been sent to Education Minister and Vice Chancellor of Goa University for their attention.
Sena has pointed out that there are several students who are still awaiting the admission in the Science and Arts section of Government College at Quepem.
“The parents of the students have been increasingly approaching us with the request to take up the matter with you, so that the future of these students will be saved from being spoilt,” reads the memorandum.
Sena has said that as per the official records, there are at least 70 students who are in the waiting list for Science stream in Quepem college followed by 15 students in Arts stream.
“You are well aware that these are the students from rural area, who have to travel kilometers together to reach to the college. These are the same students who have continued education despite several adversities,” the memorandum adds.
Sena has said that these are the students who are future of our State and the nation. If they are not given admission now, then they will lose one year, eventually leading them to depression.
The delegation requested the university to find out a solution for this problem, may be by increasing the number of classes or adjusting them in the existing classrooms.
Sena has said that situation of students waiting for the admissions is going to continue even for next year. There has to be some permanent solution worked out for this issue by the authorities.
