New Delhi: The Supreme Court has issued notices returnable within four weeks for Netravali panchayat members Rajani Gaonkar and Abhijit Desai in connection with the petition filed by Rakhi Naik against High Court order setting aside the disqualification of duo.
The decision of the Hon’ble High Court of Bombay at Goa setting aside the disqualification of Mrs. Rajani Gaonkar and Mr. Abhijit Satyavan Desai under
Section 50(4) and 50(5) of the Goa Raj Panchayat Act, 1994 was challenged by Mrs. Rakhi Naik , shivsena vice president/ spokesman Goa unit before the Hon’ble Supreme court of India, New Delhi vide a Special Leave Petition.
The said Petition was urgently listed by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India before a bench comprising of Hon’ble J. D. Y. Chandrachud and Hon’ble J. M.
- Shah on 11.12.2020 i.e on today at4.pm.The Hon’ble Supreme Court of India was prima facie convinced by the contentions raised by Mrs. Rakhi Naik vide the said petition and therefore, the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India has issued notice against Mrs. Rajani Gaonkar and Mr. Abhijit Satyavan Desai returnable in four weeks.
The Petition filed by Mrs. Rakhi Naik will be considered by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India within four weeks from 11.12.2020 whereby the Hon’ble Supreme Court will decide the issue of disqualification of Mrs. Rajani Gaonkar and Mr. Abhijit Satyavan Desai which shall therefore have a probable impact on the voters of the Zilla Panchayat Election scheduled on 12.12.2020.

The proceedings before the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India were held through video conference.
