Panaji:  New Goa BJP President Sadanand Shet Tanavade paid homage to late Manohar Parrikar before taking over the charge on Monday.

Tanavade accompanied by workers from Panaji and Taleigao Assembly Constituency offered tributes to Parrikar at Miramar beach, where the last rites were performed on him.

The new BJP leader also paid floral tributes to Goa’s first Chief Minister Dayanand Bandodkar, whose memorial is situated at Miramar beach.

Talking to reporters, Tanavade said that his priority would be to further strengthen the party ahead of next assembly election.

“BJP has set a target to cross 30 seat mark in next assembly session for which all the workers have started working,” he said.

Tanavade was declared as the president of Goa BJP on Sunday by National Vice President Avinash Rai Khanna in presence of more than 1,000 workers.
