Panaji: Lifeguards in the state have been knocking the doors of the chief minister placing forth their demands with regards to employment and job security. Coming out in solidarity with the lifeguards, Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte stated that the chief minister must have a parley with the lifeguards and resolve their grievances.
“Lifeguards too need a Life & Livelihood. The immense contribution of Lifeguards in making the world famous Goan beaches safe by saving countless tourist lives everyday needs to be recognised. @goacm (Pramod Sawant) should initiate proactive dialogue with agitating Lifeguards towards permanency of
employment and welfare measures,” wrote in a tweet.
It may be recalled that the lifeguards held a protest on Saturday for the second time this month and have warned to continue their protests until their demands are fulfilled. They were also joined by opposition party leaders including AAP Goa’s Cecille Rodrigues and Rudolf Fernandes of Congress party. Earlier, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Girish Chodankar had also demanded to regularise services of the lifeguards.
