Relief to consumers; No power Tariff hike in 2019-20

Panaji: Power Consumers have been spared a tariff hike for 2019-20 as the Electricity department in their submission before Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC) has not proposed any hike.

JERC today held public hearing on department’s annual performance review of FY 2018-19 and tariff determination for FY 2019-20. The hearing was chaired by JERC chairman MK Goel and Member Neerja Mathur.

During the hearing, Chief Electrical Engineer Reshma Mathew said that the net revenue gap will be Rs 308 crore but the same will be met through government budgetary support. “This means no additional burden on consumers for past year true-ups.
