Quepem police book five for cheating after long drawn battle by NGO

Quepem: After a long drawn battle to get justice headed by NGO Hope Foundation, Quepem police have finally booked case against five persons for misappropriating the funds.

NGO Hope Foundation had taken up the case against the accused after they were allegedly involved in siphoning off the money which they had accepted to provide plots of land.

The complaint filed with police mentions that whopping Rs 33.60 lakh were misappropriated by the accused by using it for their personal use, while failing to provide the plots as per the commitment.

Police have booked accused Antonio de Menezes Sane, Leena Das e Furtado, Dr Herlia Dias, Dr Ricardo de Teles and Prakash Deiukar after complaint was filed by Inacio Jose Cardoso, Sharon Fernandes, Melvin Fernandes and Eliza Olivera.

Police have booked them under section 406, 420 of Indian Penal Code.

As per the complaint, the accused were paid the money in December for purchase of divided plots. However, the accused persons with their common intention misappropriated the money for personal use and failed to execute deed of sale nor returned the money paid to the complainant thereby committed criminal breach of trust and cheated the complainant.
