Prohibitory orders at Manohar International Airport

Mopa: North Goa District Administration has issued prohibitory orders at Manohar International Airport at Mopa in North Goa and also villages surrounding it.

In the order issued on Friday (Feb 2), the North Goa District magistrate Dr Sneha Gitte has said that the prohibitory orders will come into effect from immediate effect and will continue till March 31, 2024.

“District Magistrate, North Goa, has issued prohibitory Orders at Manohar International Airport Mopa Pernem prohibiting Assembly and gathering of five or more persons,” the order reads.

It further also prohibits organizing of processions, the carrying of firearms or weapons of offences such as lathis, swores, daggers or spears, the use of loudspeakers, the shouting of slogans and burning of fire crackers in and around the villages of Mopa, Warkhand, Nagzar and Chandel in Mopa Airport Police Station jurisdiction from January 2024 to March 2024 to prevent disturbance of public peace and tranquillity and gathering of the people in groups.

The DM further directed that the above restrictions shall not apply to public servants on duty and to bonafide marriage or funeral processions or any special occasion or occasions which in the opinion of the District Magistrate/Additional District Magistrate/Sub-Divisional Magistrates, are genuine and for which prior permission in writing has/have been be obtained from the District Magistrate/ Additional District Magistrate or the Sub-Divisional Magistrate concerned.

The magistrate has said that this order shall come into force from the date of this order and shall remain in operation upto March 31, 2024, unless withdrawn earlier.
