Panaji: In yet another set back to the Congress in poll bound coastal state, party MLA Ravi Naik on Tuesday tendered his resignation from the House.
Naik submitted his resignation to Speaker of Legislative Assembly Rajesh Patnekar on Tuesday.
He was accompanied by both his sons, who have joined BJP earlier, last year.
With the current resignation, the strength of Congress in the 40 member legislative assembly has been reduced to three. Earlier, Luizinho Faleiro had resigned as MLA to join the Trinamool Congress Party.
“I have resigned. I will let you know what is the course of action,” Naik said.
Sources stated that Naik would be joining BJP later during the day in presence of BJP’s Goa desk incharge Devendra Fadanavis.
Roy, younger son of Naik, who has joined BJP, said that he has requested his father to join the party (BJP).
