PM Narendra Modi assures solution on Goa mining issue

Margao: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday assured that the solution through Judicial methods would be worked out for the current crisis on mining industry in Goa.

The Prime Minister was addressing the BJP workers in South Goa Parliamentary Constituency at Margao Town via video conferencing, which was attended by more than 5,000 booth level workers.

Modi said that he is well aware about the crisis faced by the people dependent on mining industry in the State.

The Prime Minister on his own recalled about the mining crisis in the State which has been a result of Supreme Court quashing 88 mining leases.

“The people working in the field of mining are worried and it is natural for them to feel in such way,” Modi said.

He said the central government was trying to work out solution for the mining issue. “We will work out whatever judicial solutions for the problem,” he said.

“We are trying to find out the ways. Central and state government and MPs are working towards it,” he said.

“We have been talking to the experts.  We want to save the livelihood of poor,” he said.

“I am also monitoring social media. I would like to tell that the crisis was due to SC judgment. We will try to find a way out because it is important element in Goa’s economy,” the PM said.
