Panaji : Para teachers from across Goa staged a protest today at Azad Maidan demanding that they be made regular teachers in schools. A total of 129 Para teachers have demanded this from the government.
Smita Desai a Para teacher while addressing the media said “Since 15 years we have been demanding employment from the government”
“we have worked in remote schools, initially hired as remedial teachers but we have worked as regular teacher with the same salary” she said.
Desai informed that Government had assured them that they would make Para teachers regular when they were under training. “Now our training has been completed but our promise of employment has not been met”
The para teachers stated that on multiple occasions they were given assurance of being appointed as regular teachers. “In 2019 Nilesh Carbral had assured us of resolving this issue but no action has been initiated from his side,” said Desai .
“Former CM late Manohar Parrikar said there are 99% chances of our work being done. Now the current CM although knowing about this issue fails to provide us relief. If CM claims that he is following the legacy of  Parrikar then he should do our work”
Para teachers have threatened that if their demands are not met soon,  they will march to the BJP office as well as protest on social media.
