Porvorim: A day after Congress party tried to score a brownie point comparing the expenditure on security at GMC to that of cancer care, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said that the state is already in process to empanel more private hospitals for Cancer treatment under state insurance schemes.

Rane told reporters said Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai has been already empanelled under Goa government’s Mediclaim and Deen Dayal Swastha Seva Yojana (DDSSY) giving cancer treatment to the patients.

“We are fully aware that there are delays on the part of the Tata Memorial Hospital as the facility is over loaded,” he said adding “that is why we have decided to empanel few more hospitals into this scheme.”

He said that private hospitals providing cancer care in Maharashtra and Karnataka would be empanelled under the scheme.
