Goa Alpha Events’ showcase, Goa Combat 2022 promises to script their first glorious chapter in Indian Combat Sports history on Saturday night at the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium.
A line-up of 14 fights lined up in K1 (kick-boxing) and MMA disciplines are set to enthrall Goa with Goan native Shera Kotkeny set to take centre stage in the main events for the K1 discipline.
Speaking at the weigh-in ceremony. Kotkeny laid down his challenge to Koshish ‘The Unstoppable’ Shreshtha from Nepal. He said, “I am not one to speak much, my place to make a mark is the cage. One thing I can tell everyone sitting here, is that after seeing me fight tomorrow, you are going to like me.
Self-proclaimed ‘Connor Mc Gregor of Goa’, Shoaib Khan, who will be fighting Raj Madhesiya on Saturday in the MMA Bantam Weight category also also buoyant about his chances. “I am going to win. Have no doubts. I want to win without the judges having to worry about it. They will have to stop the fight – a knockout or a submission,” the Goan native quipped.
Meanwhile, Mumbai native Ravi Saw, who will be up against Rabindra Dhant also made clear his intentions clear before the big night.
“My fight is going to be the showstopper. I will give the crowd a night to remember. Sadly, my opponent will have to bear the brunt for that. I am going to paint the mat red,” stated Saw at the weigh-in event.
The fight of words might be over but the big night is going to determine whether these were just words or the warnings before the eventual storm from the fighters. Not everyone is made for the limelight. And when the moments dawns upon them, only the best deliver.
And Goa is set to witness the best deliver their will in the cage on Saturday night.
