Milind Naik, Nilesh Cabral are new ministers in Parrikar-led cabinet

Panaji: BJP legislators Milind Naik and Nilesh Cabral were inducted in Manohar Parrikar-led cabinet, hours after two ministers were dropped due to their sickness.

Goa Governor Mridula Sinha administered oath of secrecy to Naik and Cabral, both of whom belong to BJP. Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar who is admitted at All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi due to the pancreatic ailment could not remain present for the swearing-in function held at Raj Bhavan.

Naik was State Power Minister in former Laxmikant Parsekar-led cabinet, while this is a maiden cabinet entry for Cabral, who represents Curchorem constituency from South Goa.

In a major development, this morning, Parrikar recommended dropping of State Urban Development Minister Francis D’Souza and State Power Minister Pandurang Madkaikar from the cabinet.

Both the ministers are ailing and currently admitted in different hospitals. While D’Souza is admitted in the USA, Madkaikar is being treated at Mumbai based hospital since June after he suffered brain stroke.
