Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde leaves for Mumbai

Panaji: Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde on Friday left for Mumbai from resort in Goa to take stock of the situation amidst heavy downpour.

Talking to reporters at Dona Paula outside the resort, Shinde said that he would be chairing the meeting of Disaster Management in Mumbai.

“There is a heavy downpour in Mumbai and people are facing losses. I am personally chairing the meeting of Disaster Management Committee,” he said adding that he has already spoken to the civic authorities.

Speaking about the priorities of his government, Shinde said that he will work for “Farmers’ Suicide Free” state for which various decisions would be taken.

He said that the state government has resolved to make Maharashtra Farmers’ Suicide Free on the occasion of Krishi Din, which is commemorated in the memory of late Vasantrao Naik.

Shinde said that the state government will offer minimum price support for the farmers. “There is need to provide latest technological support to the farmers. We are committed to make life of farmers better,” he said.

The chief minister said that various developmental projects that are on hold, would be followed by his government.

“The projects may be related to farmers or watershed management, metro project, works of Water Resources Department… All these would be taken up on priority basis,” he commented.
