Low key Eid-Ul-Fitr celebration in the state, prayers also for corona warriors

Panaji:  The muslim brethrens in the state have decided to hold low key Eid-Ul-Fitr celebrations amidst COVID-19 outbreak with the religious leaders suggestions for the namazs to be prayed at homes.

Goa has around four percent of its population following muslim faith.

Association of All Goa Muslims Jamats President Shaikh Bashir Ahmad said that in view of the extended lockdown due to pandemic COVID-19, the advisory has been issued to the community which shall be followed during the celebration of Eid-Ul-Fitr.

“Eid-Ul-Fitr namaz shall not be held at any masjids or Idgahs across the state of Goa. we request our brothers to offer ‘chasht namaz “Nafl” from their respective homes along with family members,” he said.

Shaikh said that the community has been requested  not to organize any Eid-Ul-Fitr namaz in their  locality or open place as this is not permissible.

“Kindly follow the guidelines issued by MHA with regards to prohibitions to be followed during lockdown,” Shaikh has said in the advisory issued on Sunday.

He pointed out that Government of Goa has imposed section 144 of the crpc and the government of India has extended the nationwide lockdown till May 31, 2020.

“Do not crowd in markets for Eid-Ul-Fitr shopping, follow social distancing and compulsory use of face masks at all times,” he said.

“Do take care your neighbours and help the person in need to celebrate Eid-Ul-Fitr. Helping the people in need will be the real celebration of Eid-Ul-Fitr this year,” he said.

“Kindly pray for the safety of our frontline warriors like doctors, para medical staff, police personnel etc. and for the end of this coronavirus in Goa, India and whole world,” he added.
