Margao: The G.R. Kare College of Law, Margao-Goa has offered Portuguese as a foreign language optional to its students in the B.A.LL.B. grant-in-aid programme from academic year 2021-22.  The subject consists of an introduction to the language and has a defined syllabus approved by the Board of Studies in Law of the Goa University.  The introduction of the subject is expected to not only benefit several law graduates who secure overseas placements but also practising lawyers who deal with documentation in the Portuguese language.
Kare Law College through its Centre for Lusophone Culture and Legal Studies also offers a one-of-its-kind Certificate programme in Portuguese Language with Legal Inputs by faculty qualified in both language and law with a dedicated component to translations, for which there is extensive enrollment by both students as well as practicing lawyers.  The College has several MoUs with European and Brazilian Universities and expects to commence with Faculty, student and knowledge exchange programmes shortly, says a press note issued by Prof. Dr. Saba Da Silva, Principal of the G. R. Kare College of Law and Dean of the faculty of Law.
