Panaji: Goa government on Wednesday suspended a high ranking official from Information Technology (IT) department for demanding bribe to give a job.
Siddharth Borkar working as a Deputy Director in the Information Technology Department was placed under suspension by the department on Wednesday, a day after his audio tape went viral.
Borkar was heard asking for a bribe of Rs one lakh from a candidate for the post of Senior Associate (Social Media) in the Information Technology Department.
The tape had a conversation between the officer and the candidate who had allegedly applied for the post of senior associate in the department, a senior official from the IT department said.
He said that the officer was placed under suspension on Wednesday and the matter was referred to the Vigilance department by the IT department.
