Indian Navy divers assist in restoring North Goa water supply

The Secretary, Dept of Water Resources, Goa, requested the Indian Navy for diving assistance at Amthane Dam on 27 January to operationalize a stuck sluice gate blocking the water supply.

A team from the Navy’s Clearance Diving Unit at Goa promptly undertook survey dives to arrive at a novel solution to restore the water supply.

Commencing on 28 Jan, the team undertook continuous diving to lift the sluice gate on 29 Jan and restore the water supply to North Goa.

The team worked day and night in challenging conditions, upholding the highest traditions of the Navy.
