Is Delta plus variant detached in Goa ?
“Delta plus variant has not been detected in Goa ” said Dean of GMC Shivanand Bandekar on 30th June.
“We have an expert committee in place to look after the preparedness for the third wave” he added.
When is the third wave coming ?
According to Anurag Agrawal, Director, Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (CSIR), Delhi, The virus affects the most vulnerable population and then eventually spreads. People who take the vaccine as well as those who had got infected and recovered also get immunity.
“After time lapses and the immunity fades or the virus evolves to evade it, the virus attacks again and spreads among people, this cycle can be called a wave” he added.
Agrawal also asserted that since people are being vaccinated on a large scale he is hopeful that the size of the future waves can be kept small. “Viral evolution takes time and we are tracking the mutations” he stated.
Bandekar has also reminded the general public to get themselves vaccinated as soon as possible.
