Panjim: This Sunday (23rd June 2019), the GTDC weekly monsoon trek heads to Zadani along the banks of River Mhadei. According to local legends, Zadani was a thriving village around 800years ago. However, for reasons unknown, the residents of Zadani migrated to other places totally abandoning it. Currently, the existence of a shiva lingam and a nandi at Zadani are the only two sings that the place was inhibited by people ages ago.
Now every year more than five hundred locals visit the place to celebrate Mahashivratri and to take the blessing of lord shiva.
The trek will cover a distance of 4 kms through semi forests and lush greenery. The trekking expedition is open to all especially those with a spirit for adventure and nature lovers.
Transport arrangements have been made from Mapusa & Margao at 7.30 a.m. and from Panjim at 8.30 a.m. Pick up facility also available from Old Goa, Banasthari & Sankhali Yummy food will be served by the villagers of Dhavem, Sattari.
Interested trekkers are requested to carry along an extra pair of clothes, rainwear, trekking shoes, drinking water, snacks, and binoculars. Smoking and consumption of alcohol prohibited.
The charges for the trek including lunch Rs. 800 per head.
