Goa’s COVID-19 positivity rate touches 26 per cent on Monday

Panaji: Goa recorded unprecedented hike in the number of COVID-19 infections with the positivity rate touching 26.43 per cent on Monday.

State Health official said that 631 new infections were reported in the state taking the toll to 1,82,201 on the day when State government decided to shut down the schools and colleges and contemplated the possibility of imposing night curfew in the state.

The state had reported 10.7 per cent positivity on Sunday, which jumped to 26.43 per cent on Monday.

The figures of fatalities due to COVID-19 infection remained at 3,523 as none  of the patients succumbed to the infection during the day.

The number of recovered patients in the state rose to 176438 with 62 of them getting discharged on Monday. The number of active cases is now 2240, the official said.

“With 2387 new tests, the total number of tests conducted in the state has gone up to 16,37,091,”  he added.
