Panaji: Goa government will notify a high level committee to work for the Economic Revival of the State which will also suggest austerity measures for the government, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said on Tuesday.
Sawant said that the committee which will comprise of senior IAS officials and experts will be notified on Tuesday.
Goa government had formed Economic Revival committee comprising of industry players which has already submitted its report to State government. The committee headed by industrialist Shivanand Salgaonkar had suggested various measures that needs to be adopted to get economy out of slumber.
Sawant said that the State government has already decided to enact austerity measures which is one of the step towards economic revival.
Once the committee is announced, you will know the details on what strategy it is working, he said.
In the past, Sawant had claimed that the tax collection had dipped by almost 80 per cent in the state during the current lockdown.
Tourism industry which was a revenue grosser for the state has been shut down, while mining industry is undergoing ban since last two years due to Supreme Court order.
Goa was one of the first states to allow its industries to function, last month, amidst COVID-19 outbreak in the country.
