Goa Marathi Film Festival is back with its 12th Edition this June

Movie magic is here this monsoon as the Goa Marathi Film Festival is back for the 12th edition. The festival completed 11 successful years last year and this year, the excitement intensifies with bigger movies and surprises on 28th, 29th and 30th June 2019 at Kala Academy, Maquinez Palace and Inox. An initiative of Vinsan World, The Goa Marathi Film Festival has been recognised as one of the finest festivals of Goa.
Film aficionados from Goa and the neighbouring states should get ready for a cinematic indulgence at the Goa Marathi Film Festival. Attendees are in for a treat with an amazing selection of inspiring and credible films, tributes to industry stalwarts, educational workshops, interactive sessions, star studded premieres, theatrical performances, noteworthy celebrity appearances and the red carpet experience.
Since its inception, the Goa Marathi Film Festival has received overwhelming and unconditional support from the Marathi Film Fraternity including the actors, producers, directors and other professionals who are associated with the industry. The festival prides itself on introducing quality Marathi films that are critically acclaimed, commercially successful and award winning. From inspiring and refreshing storylines on untouched subjects to powerhouse performances, the Goa Marathi Film Festival truly presents a unique cinematic experience.
The festival will open with a traditional lamp lighting ceremony followed by an entertainment programme. Popular Indian Director and Producer, Subhash Ghai has been invited to grace the occasion as Chief Guest. This year, the prestigious ‘Kritadnyata Puraskar’ will be bestowed upon renowned Marathi film director and National Award Winner Smt. Sumitra Bhave.
Festival Director, Sanjay Shetye opines “We are happy to see the Goa Marathi Film Festival grow with every edition. What started out as an initiative 11 years ago, for film enthusiasts to enjoy Marathi cinema in Goa has now gained widespread prominence amongst a national and international audience. Every year, we present our handpicked selection of films along with other festival experiences. We have a few surprises in store for the festival attendees of the 12th Goa Marathi Film Festival.”
Films like Mulashi Pattern (Dir. Pravin Tarde), Basta (Dir. Tanaji Dhadge), Hodee (Dir. Gajendra Ahire), Naal (Dir. Sudhakar Reddy), Wedding Cha Shinema (Dir Salil Kulkarni), Kaagar (Dir. Makarand Mane), SurSapaata (Dir. Mangesh Kathakale), Bhonga (Dir. Shivaji Patil), Dithee (Dir. Sumitra Bhave), Imego (Dir. Karan Chavhan), KhatalaaBithalaa (Dir. Paresh Mokashi), Mhorkya (Dir. Amar Deokar), Miranda House (Dir. Dr. Rajendra Talak), Paani (Dir. Adinath Kothare), Chumbak (Dir. Sandeep Modi), Aaron (Dir. Omkar Shetty) and Ahilya (Dir. Raju Parsekar) will also be screened during the festival. Short films will also be screened and these include Pamphlet (Dir. Shekhar Rankhambe), Postpartum (Dir. Vinod Kamble), Godhul (Dir. Ganesh Shelaar) and Aai Shappath (Dir. Gautam Vaze).
The Marathi Film fraternity is all set to visit the state for the 12th edition of the film festival and in the past, popular personalities such as Vikram Gokhale, Amol Palekar, Nana Patekar, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Mahesh Manjrekar, Ravi Jadhav, Sachin Khedekar, Varsha Usgaonkar and many others have graced the festival with their presence.
The festival is organized by Vinsan World in association with Kala Academy who has extended their support to the festival as Venue Partner. LIC is the Support Sponsor for the 12th edition of the festival and Hotel Fidalgo is the Hospitality Partner. Vinsan Academy of Film and Media is the Knowledge Partner of the festival. The Goa Marathi Film Festival has a widespread reach and is one of the premier film festivals of Goa. The festival receives a footfall from avid moviegoers from the states of Maharashtra and Karnataka.
