Panaji: Goa’s chief minister and BJP leader Dr Pramod Sawant and his party colleague Vishwajit Rane met Union Home minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Saturday ahead of the party readying to stake claim to form the new government in Goa.
The BJP has emerged as a single largest political party winning 20 seats during recently held Goa Legislative Assembly election held on February 14. The results were announced on March 10. BJP Goa President Sadanand Shet Tanavade had told reporters earlier said that the party will form the next government after Holi celebrations.
Sources in the party confirmed that on Saturday evening, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had summoned Sawant and Rane to New Delhi together. “Both the leaders met Shah together and discussed various issues related to Goa,” the source said, refusing to elaborate further.
BJP National President J P Nadda was also present in the meeting when both the Goa leaders met Shah in New Delhi on Saturday.
