Panaji: Congress legislators including former Chief Ministers Digambar Kamat and Pratapsinh Rane and others Dayanand Sopte, Subhash Shirodkar and Francis Silveira are on their way to join BJP in next few days.
Sources confirmed that the BJP top brass in Delhi has agreed to induct these legislators into the party-fold. We are yet to get the formal confirmation on this news but sources close to these legislators have said that the switch over will happen somewhere on September 15, 16 or 17.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has also reportedly given his consent for this switchover. The induction is being delayed till September 15 as Parrikar is abroad. The things will start moving when he arrives from the USA on September 8.
The move is looked as an attempt to reduce influence of Goa Forward Party and also weaken the Congress party, which has been demanding dismissal of the government in absence of Parrikar.
The attempts to get Kamat for his comments failed as his cell phone was off. Sources stated that Kamat was in Bangalore today and returned to Goa this evening.
The switch over will have Senior Rane enjoying the perk of being Governor in some of the State while others will have to wait for their ministership till the by-elections are held in their respective constituencies.
The current composition of the government will continue same with the alliance partners enjoying same portfolios as they have right now.
